iPhone 7 Message app keeps crashing

hello, I have an iPhone 7 and the message app keeps crashing. I rebooted my phone a couple times, deleted all my messages, signed out of my apple account and back in, and I even restarted my settings. my phone isn't fully updated to the latest version, and I tried doing it and it is also not letting me. there is always a error message popping up. I Also have plenty of storage. I have even just tried to create a new message and not go directly to the app but it also crashes.
