The usable space on an iPhone 5c 8GB is 4.9GB with the rest being taken up by the iOS and built-in apps.
I totally understand why you'd have concerns about an unknown portion of your storage space, so let me see if I can help you figure out what's going on. Before we start looking into things, I feel it important to mention that every device allocates a portion of the default storage capacity to data the device needs to run (such as the operating system and anything cached from update files). This article explains that in more depth: How iOS and macOS report storage capacity - Apple Support
With that said, let's look into what's actively consuming your storage space. Head to Settings > General > iPhone Storage and you should see a breakdown that shows the makeup of the used storage. This can help you determine where the largest chunk is coming from, and possibly rectify that by removing any unnecessary data. You might also find this to be helpful:
How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple SupportUse recommendations to optimize storage
In the Storage section of Settings, iOS might offer recommendations for optimizing your device's storage. Tap Show All to see all the recommendations for your device.
Read the description of each recommendation, then tap Enable to turn it on.
I hope this helps you get to the bottom of your storage situation. If there's anything you'd like me to elaborate on, or if you run into trouble trying to follow one of my recommendations, just let me know and I'll help you straighten it out.
Cheers!
😃Thank you so much for getting back to me , but I still don't know if I have an 8gb iPhone or if my iPhone lost its gigabytes somehow and if they are somewhere else how can I get them back.😕
Thanks!!!!! But do you have any ideas on how i can get more storage on my iPhone And make way for more things? If you you do that would be really great😀
iPhones do not have expandable storage, so if you want more you will need to get a device that has more built in to it.
Thats really the only way to go about it
Thank you to everyone!!! All of you helped me so much!!!!😃
A friend gave me an old iPhone 5c that's supposed to have 8gb of storage and I looked into the usage area in settings and found that i had used 4.98 gb! It also said that I had 47 mb "available". Please tell me where the rest of my gb are!!!
