iCloud Storage is NOT freeing up space once files deleted

Hi,

My icloud storage is full, so I removed files from the documents folder on my mac.

I also went into the icloud drive and removed these files there as well as clicking on "recently deleted" at the bottom and removing the files there as well.

icloud on my mac finder shows the right amount of space used, yet my icloud drive using the browser still shows the space is used by the files I deleted, yet the files do not show up there anymore.

How do I solve this?

I am using MacOs High sierra.
