iPhone 5s stuck in Recovery / DFU mode and iTunes won't Restore device either. Help?

So, I bought an iPhone 5s from a work colleague who had recently upgraded to a newer model and sold me their old phone. Received the phone from them and all was well, they had factory reset the phone so i set it up and began using it throughout the day without issue. However, came home from work and wanted to try and download a back-up from a phone I had years ago. So fired up my PC, updated itunes, opened itunes, connected phone and nothing. Researched for different troubleshooting options and found something that said the iPhone may ust require updating or it may require restoring completly. Now as iTunes wouldn't pick the phone up i read that i needed to boot the phone up in DFU or Recovery mode so that itunes would recognise the device, so thats exactly what i did and it was going well up to this point. Once in this mode with the iTunes now recognising the device i got the option to Restore or Update the device and after reading on the Apple website which says to click Update first then if this fails click Restore, I clicked to Update and my PC began to download the latest software and prepare the device for updating but only got to the stage of preparing before failing with an error occuring: 2003. Then it gave me the option to Restore as "iTunes was unable to update this device at this time", so as anyone would i clicked to restore the phone (as i have only had it for about 8 hours its not like it was full of memories) and was again met with an error message and code only this time it was " 2009 ".

But now i have a phone thats stuck in DFU / Recovery mode and i cant seem to do anything with it? I've spent the past 4 - 5 hours trying everything i can to get this phone back up and running with now joy and could really use a hand. I've tried forcing it out of recovery mode, changing usb ports, changing lightening to usb cables, restarting the pc , iphone , router, ive changed all my internet settings, ive chamged my firewall settings ( before changing them back) i uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it. i need help. PLEASE!!
