My AppleTV Apps keep crashing, randomly- no obvious pattern- except that it happens most frequently when there is nothing actually playing (such as scrolling through netflix), or the show is paused- on any and all apps.
Sometimes it happens immediately, sometimes it happens after a while of the show playing, and restarting the tv does not solve the problem. Is apple going to be sending out an update to fix this?

If you have a 2nd Gen, as per your profile, then that doesn’t run apps (just preset content sent via server) and hasn’t had an update in quite some time. It is also considered obsolete.
If its a 4th Gen or newer, it wouldn’t be a bug as it’s working fine for most. Best to verify the network
Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings - network)
If on wifi try Ethernet
To see a current status of the network get a report from istumbler, netstumbler or similar. Look for signal strength, noise, nearby networks
Test on another network
Looks like I had the wrong gen- I believe I have a 4th gen- I will have to double check. It is updated to the latest software update and definitely runs apps and has an App Store. From what I have gathered on this forum is that I have seen at least 100 other people who have the same problem I am describing (based on the “I have this problem too” button). It is already plugged into the Ethernet, i just upgraded my internet speed to 5x my previous speed- so it is 100% not the internet. It only started doing this AFTER the last update. It is definitely a glitch with software or hardware- and given that it occurred after the last update, leads me to believe it’s software.
This wouldn’t have anything to do with the internet, this would be based on a local network issue. Issues can also come at any time. Again, this is not a bug. There are millions of users and if that were the case this forum alone would be full of reports due to a widespread issue.
