bluetooth mouse and keyboard disconnecting

I have an iMac Retina 5K, running High Sierra. Every now and then my bluetooth mouse and keyboard both lose connection. The bluetooth still seems to be working, but they won't reconnect until I restart the computer. I don't have a wired mouse to use when this happens.I also have problems with programmes crashing quite often - mostly Adobe CC apps.
