Why did the iMessage bubble change shapes?

I am attaching a screenshot of the iMessage. After my mother sent me this good night message, it changed shapes. This is the first time it happened.

After looking through other questions, I found this similar case, but no explaination as to why: what does it mean when the message bubble in imessage changes shape after sending. ios 11.

To be funny, the right side looks like a beluga whale head and the left looks like a dolphin head. Thank you in advance!

iMessage bubble icon What does the small blue Reply icon underneath the iMessage bubble do, and when does it appear? I just saw this for the first time on my iPhone today. See screenshot below.
