Can I create Numbers template in ios 11

Using an iPad Pro with iOS11, I have finally put together the timesheet we need for radio scripts with all our clients (whew!). Now I can’t find how to turn this into a Template so we can all grab it every time we need a new client script. Is there no way to create templates on my iPad? Instructions all seem to point toward using a Mac - which seems counterintuitive (even anachronistic) to me.

so, can I create a template from the Numbers spreadsheet I have designed, using only my iPad Pro and iOS 11?

thank you all!

Since it is not a native supported thing on the iOS version, i just keep a clean "blank" version of my file, then in the file selection window (not the recents section, go into the browse area) you can tap-hold on a file and get a "duplicate" option.

then i open and work on the newly made file.

See https://help.apple.com/numbers/ipad/3.3/#/tan57e4f9f9c. I've managed a round trip where I created a document on my iPad, downloaded it to a PC using iCloud Drive, change the file extension to .nmbtemplate (actually set that while saving the download), then uploaded the renamed copy which functions as a template.

Use Feedback - Numbers for iOS - Apple to let Apple know you would like a less clunky workaround.

This isn't much of an answer, it’s mostly seconding your complaint about there not being a simple solution. For the last two decades I would create a spreadsheet in MacOS and when I wanted to rename it without losing the original I would use "Save As." (Even after Apple inexplicably decided to hide the Save As option.) Figuring there had to be a similar solution in iOS I dowloaded the manual and while trying to follow the Template instructions on page 17 I accidentally created a copy of my original spreadsheet that I was able to rename without losing the original. So, it can be done, I’m just not sure how I did it. I couldn’t duplicate my solution. Why is it so difficult?
