hooking up a new apple tv 4K do you need a 4K HDMI cord

When hooking up the new apple tv4k - I was told that you need a 4K HDMI cord. I purchased this but now I'm wondering do you hook up the 4k HDMI cord to the TV from the received and then another 4K HDMI cord from the reciever to the apple tv?


When I just replaced the original HDMI cord from the apple tv to the HDMI 4K it still didn't work because I still had a regular HDMI cable going from the receiver to the TV (not the apple tv).


I guess the bottom line is do I need 2 4K HDMI cords one going to the receiver and one going to the TV from the receiver to make the apple TV4K work?


Urgh - why can't they just make things easy!!

Yes - content carrying 4K must be conveyed with the proper cable. And if you're

trying to set the tv to display HDR you need a cable capable of that.
