MacBook Pro (Late 2011) Installing Windows 10 Issue

Hello,

Trying to install Windows 10 manually via Disk Utility and i have run into a wall with it (I am aware Apple doesn't support my MacBook Pro Late 2011 with W10 via BootCamp)

I have tried and failed to install many times via USB (met with 'No Audio Driver' issue when fully installed).

I have tried and failed to install it many times via CD (met with GPT Partition Issue, formatting of drive no use).

I have recently had my MacBook refurbished with a 1TB SSD replacing the original 500gb drive it was supplied with and had Windows 10 up and running on the 500gb as a partition. The only other difference now is that i am installing this on High Sierra now rather than whatever the OS was when i previously installed W10 on the 500gb drive a few years ago.

Things i have to install with:

-Official Windows 10 USB (with key)

-Bootcamp Drivers on (FAT) flash drive

-Windows 10 (x64) on a CD

I have searched and searched for answers but nothing seems to be working. I'm trying to avoid my purchase of the Windows 10 USB being useless. But it once worked so i am confused!

Could anyone help?

Your 2011 Mac is a preUEFI Mac, so you will need to use the DVD. You can bypass BC Assistant. You will need to

  • Create a FAT32 partition manually using Disk Utility
  • Create a Hybrid MBR using GPT Fdisk
  • Insert the W10 DVD and use Alt/Option to boot from it, and select the FAT32 partition as the destination. Format this as NTFS, when the Installer comes up.

Do not use Diskpart, otherwise you will have a new set of problems.
