Hi,

Google technically dropped GoogleTalk some while back in favour of Hangouts.

More recently they have stopped using the talk.google.com server.

You have to change the Server Settings to google.com

I have never been taken with 2 step verification so I don't use it on Google. (I feel slightly forced to use it on my Macs)

Therefore in my Google Account settings > Security I have it set to Allow Less Secure apps

This allows apps to use SSL which Google have deemed less secure than their Oauth Tokens.

It also works for not using SSL.

SSL needs port 5223 and non SSL needs port 5222 but the app will change the ports when you change the SSL setting.
