Homepod pausing music

My problem may be a misunderstanding of mine. I ran a test by creating a tiny playlist on my computer and then telling my HomePod to play it. It stopped after playing both songs on the playlist. It may be that the stations Apple Music creates are also limited and that it stops when that limit is reached.

If so, I'd like to know how to tell Siri to keep playing without stopping at the end.

I said "Play Lullaby of Broadway". It played the Diana Reeves version (which I have on my iTunes), then continued with another Diana Reeves song.

Yesterday it stopped when I had it sing Leon Redbone after playing for a while. I've also had it stop when I had it playing "standards".

Yes it will do that. Starts playing their album.

I ask for songs I have in my library but it plays the song from another album (not mine). I’m now streaming, running up my wifi data.

Its hard to know if its playing one I own or streaming?

Similar problem. I request Siri to play something, the music begins and fails to play after anymore after 5 seconds. If lwft on and not Paused, Siri will play the next song in a Playlist, but again for only 5 seconds. Over and over again. Network: fine. WiFi: fine. Super annoying. Setting my matching pods up was super-counterintuitive and I don’t look forward to being inconvenienced again in this fashion.

Thanks Howard. Agree about inconsistencies. HomePod I’m Home app says it’s playing but no sound. Just started for me and I’ve owned since the beginning. Didn’t see any updates in today’s iPad event for HomePod OS.

********. I have 5 G with the same issue. The device has been in use for two days this is an Apple defect not a broadband one. I plug in a je boom box to my iPhone and no problem. Overpriced and useless. I’m buying Bose and returning this garbage.

There is improvement on 5 G as opposed to 2.4. So there’s that. When the speaker works it’s great and as good or better than Bose. Apple needs to improve Siri exponentially to be better than Alexa’s environment. I want Apple to succeed but I’m teetering now.

How, I seriously mean....HOW, can this still be an issue? The Homepod just stops playing music whenever "it feels" like it. What the heck! If I had an option, I'd return it and get my money back ... an expensive disappointment!

I could have posted this message word for word. Sounds like apple must be aware of this. I have asked them about it and didn't get any help. So fingers crossed there is a fix soon.

I have 150mbps and have the issues mutliple times every song I play. HomePod is completely unusable. Seems like lip service to me. My bandwidth is 5ghz 80mhz (largest you can get consumer wise)

Yes that would be useful, Bruce. My wife and I listen all day and we are the ultimate proving ground for this so if you could let it play longer and see that would be helpfu. ~W

Still happening to me, 11.4, embarrassing when friends and family are over and it happens randomly lol

That could be, but I have had no indication of it with our computers. Is there any way to determine if that is the problem?

While testing this, I turn on music on my HomePod in my bedroom and go about normal living. So far I haven't noticed exactly when the HomePod has stopped playing.
