Cannot send iMessage from mac-mini after 10.13.4 update

I have tried every tip that I can find but I still cannot send an iMessage (but I can receive) from my mac-mini after the recent 10.13.4 update. I can receive and send from iPhone 8 (iOS is current), which also shows up in the iMessage contact thread but if I try to reply from mac-mini, I get "not delivered".

Any suggestions?

Apple ID, is set to the same account, logged in etc. I have turned off/logged out/logged in/enabled/disabled etc but nothing has worked. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem ....

Mac mini, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4)

I ultimately deleted my account and signed back in activating the account with a new password.

Other than losing some data and having to re-enter some information, this seemed to work. After that I did a fresh backup on time machine,
