Siri asks for a password only when I call my home number!

My wife an iPhone issue that's frustrating the heck out of me. She can use her iPhone to call anybody and it works just like it should. However, if she calls our home landline (and the issue pertains to calling *only* that number) then the landline rings just once and then Siri (repeatedly) asks:

"Please enter your password, then press pound".

She's tried using the phone keypad to enter her iPhone password but to no avail. If you wait long enough Siri eventually says:

"Unfortunately the system cannot process your entries. Please try again later. Goodbye."

None of the other family members have this issue with their iPhones, just her. I have no idea what's going on :-(...

What service may be on your landline that requires a password? Is there voicemail on the line?

Check her entry in Contacts to see if that number is stored correctly. Maybe a phantom character or extra number that triggers some extra feature. I am thinking a * or #, as they are often used to access voicemail when calling a number.

Ask Siri to "call" or "dial" the number manually, i.e.: "Siri, call 212-555-1212". She will take the numbers and dial the number.

Delete the entry and add it in again.

Thanks for responding. I had already tried manually dialing the number but still got the same thing. I don't believe it's a landline voice-mail because every other family member can call that number without issue. Nothing strange going on in the contacts (we all sync our contacts from a separate family iCloud account).

Hey! I just noticed you have a perfect binary number (16384) for your points score :-). I also just looked at mine and I have the same scenario (32). Hmmm....

Just got another 10, so that's over already...

If you remove the contact for the number, restart your phone and then ask Siri to manually dial the number, what happens?

There would be no matching contact for that number now. Just another thought.

So here's a clue. I just tried your suggestion about dialing the number via Siri (even though manually dialing it led to the same issue) when I noticed that my wife has Siri set to a female Australian accent. The Siri prompt I get on her phone when being asked for the password is in the usual female US accent. So it's not her phone doing the prompting, yet it is unmistakably Siri. I only wish when it gave up and generically said "the system cannot process your entries" it also indicated what the password was being asked for.
