Open Bookmarks in New Tab
Continuing the discussion from: Re: Make Safari bookmark open in a new tab by default
Safari really needs a capability for users to select as a preference to simply open bookmarks in a new tab rather than by replacing what is open in the current tab. The current way to do this requires multiple steps such as opening a new tab first, then selecting a bookmark, or using complicated key combinations. There are many tasks that involve easily switching between multiple websites and it is annoying to have a current website blown away when selecting a second website. With complex multi-factor authentication being increasingly required, this missing capability is more than a minor inconvenience.
FireFox recognized this an beginning in version 57 provided a simple way for users to create this preference (which is off by default. Entering the address about:config opens the Configuration Editor. Users then simply change the setting for browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs to true. http://techdows.com/2017/09/firefox-57-open-bookmarks-in-a-new-tab-preference.ht ml
As a leading innovator, Apple should keep up with FireFox.
