Can't use HDMI to VGA adapter with Macbook Pro 2015.

Hi, I am trying to use an external monitor with my Macbook Pro 2015 but it seems like there is a problem. When I plug in the adapter my computer's screen goes black and comes back again and again. I have tried using the adapter with a computer runs Windows and everything worked properly. Is there a anything like "We can only use adapters compatible with Macs" ? What should I do about that ?

I have recorded a video showing the poblem I am having. Access it from here.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3), null

Hi, SametSahin!

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities. If I understand your post, when using an external display with macOS on your MacBook Pro, the internal display flips from the display to black and back again consistently. I'm happy to help!

Based on what you've described, I would first suggest reviewing the video support for external monitors, which can be found below from MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) - Technical Specifications :

Graphics and Video Support

  • Intel Iris Graphics 6100
  • Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 3840 by 2160 pixels on up to two external displays, both at millions of colors.
  • Thunderbolt digital video output
    • Native Mini DisplayPort output
    • DVI, VGA, dual-link DVI, and HDMI output supported using Mini DisplayPort adapters (sold separately)
  • HDMI video output
    • Support for 1080p resolution at up to 60Hz
    • Support for 3840-by-2160 resolution at 30Hz
    • Support for 4096-by-2160 resolution at 24Hz

Once you've confirmed your setup is supported, follow the steps here to make sure you've got everything set up correctly: Use multiple displays with your Mac - Apple Support . If you do and still have trouble, check out Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac - Apple Support for help troubleshooting.

Have a great day!
