Can't use HDMI to VGA adapter with Macbook Pro 2015.

Hi, I am trying to use an external monitor with my Macbook Pro 2015 but it seems like there is a problem. When I plug in the adapter my computer's screen goes black and comes back again and again. I have tried using the adapter with a computer runs Windows and everything worked properly. Is there a anything like "We can only use adapters compatible with Macs" ? What should I do about that ?

What is the make and model of the adapter?

I have a number of these that have been installed in offices and lecture theatres and they work well: http://www.belkin.com/uk/p/P-AV10170/

the adaptor must be an active adaptor, meaning there is an electronic chip inside to perform the signal conversion.

Your video doesn't work. It would help if you identified the make and model of your monitor. What kind of input connections does it have. Is it so old that all you can use is an ancient analog VGA connection?
