iPad - Pages lost text

I was working on a document in Pages for iPad and flipping back and forth between apps. One time when I flipped back to Pages, it had suddenly lost a lot of the text I typed. Is there any way I can restore this text? Does anyone know why this happened? I can’t find the “versions” button when I select a document in the document viewer either but I figured that might be from an app update or something.

So you would not recommend switching to another app while typing? I just switched to Safari to look something up.

I misunderstood you. The behavior you describe here (switching to Safari) is just fine.

What I thought you were saying was that your work on the document was "flipping back and forth between apps" - in other words, you were working in Pages, then editing the same document using, say, an Adobe application.

If Pages is the only application handling the document while it's open, then that's fine.
