mac mini mid 2010 update fail

Hi

Trying hard to update my mac mini mid 2010 to the latest announced high sierra. Running 10.13 now, and I have tried to update 10.31.1, 10.13.2, 10.13.3 in order, but nothing seems to work, I have downloaded the combined updates and tried to install in safe mode.

Checked in on the EFI and that is the latest I can find; MM41.0045.B00

Automated updates fail, and I am out of ideas...

Next would be to take it to the genius bar, but as I have very little time to use for private things I'd rather not.

Any tip from out there would be appreciated.

TIA

BjornE

Please download and run EtreCheck, created by one of own colleagues here in ASC. It is a diagnostic tool that's very useful to us in finding problems. Also it will give us further specs on your Mac. After it runs post the log file here. It will contain no personal information.

I had same problem....I used time machine from a MacBook Air with 10.13.4.Back up your mini .Use Time Machine from a Mac that has the update 10.13.4 .Restore Mac mini comand +r use time machine restore than use migration to bring back all your old stuff from your back up.U will need two ssd or hard drive for the two back ups.I bought a Mac mini from eBay for about 130.00 dollars that had bad ram.Used this work around to get it to work stable.

I hope this helps

Here is the report from EtreCheck. Can't say I can find any major issues that could prevent updates...?

Whoho!

Today the 10.13.4 update showed itself in the automated update list, and I of course tried to install that one immediately. And guess what - same result!

"Some updates did not install (free translation from Swedish), Click here for more information"

I clicked, and what information did I get?

"Some updates did not install" (again), and a new "install" button. (👿) Looping...

I am actually getting really really tired of this hiding of information regarding failures. Is there any installation log to follow and investigate somewhere that can help with some hints on what is wrong here? I mean, can it be wrong version of support files, executables, etc? Missing or failing hardware features? Hard/soft links pointing to nothing?

Frustrated!

I am VERY used to work inside log files and text based administration and configuration. I can probably manage by myself, if I just can get my hands on some (useful) logs.

There we are, problem solved!

I made a new installation of 10.13 on top of everything, and the result after doing that is that I now have 10.13.4 installed according to "about..." 😕 😮

Strange, and this kind of error should be possible to catch from installation logs, if there are any somewhere...

Thanks for the help anyway!
