Apple software update constantly says itunes has an update

Hello,

I have a windows pc with the latest version of itunes or so I think. I have everything on my computer updated even my phone and other apple devices. Anyways, that shouldn't really matter because what my problem is is that when I launch itunes and check for an update it shows it is updated to 12.7.4. When I check the apple software update app on my computer it shows itunes is not updated. I have uninstalled and reinstalled countless times, went to tools and hit download only then tried to install from there. However nothing works. It keeps saying itunes has an update. As far as I can tell everything works just fine other than some possible communication issues between itunes and the update app. So it doesn't seem to be a bug affecting performance just an annoying one. Anyone know anything I can do to resolve this? Side note a while back I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes a while back ago because I was having issues backing up my apple devices which didn't help and that is when this bug started happening just before ios 11.1 came out. I don't know if that would have anything to do with it at all but just thought I would mention it.

iPhone 7, iOS 11.3

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. When reinstalling right click on the downloaded setup file and use run as administrator.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, or want to revert to an older version if the current one won't work properly for you at the moment.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
