Messages in iCloud not found in Messages App

I want to see my iMessages ( which are stored in iCloud available to my iOS devices ) in my macOS Messages app. I can't seem to get this working. I was in contact with Apple Support and they said that macOS doesn't currently support this feature but I find this hard to believe. I think It has something to do with the fact that in Messages/Preferences/Accounts/Settings under the checkbox "Enable this account" I am missing the "Enable Messages on iCloud" checkbox. Any ideas?
