Apple ID verification code required... no field

I have an older macbook pro osx 10.9.5 and it constantly says that I have an icloud issue. When I input my icloud credentials, it asks me to "Type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices."

I have the code on my iphone, but there is no field to input the verification code on my macbook pro... And the error message keeps popping up if I do not get this solved.

Anyone else having the same issue?

Note that this would not require a space."
