My Iphone 8 plays two medias at the same time while I am using a Bluetooth device

When I listen to the ESPN app on a Bluetooth device with my iPhone 8 and pause it and then hit play, the iPhone will either play a song from the music app or start a podcast from the podcast app at the same time with the ESPN app or it just ignores the ESPN app and plays music or a podcast. What can I do to make sure It only plays one app at a time or set it up so it will select the last media player used (ESPN, music, podcast, iheartmedia) Thanks
