Audio stops on airpods

Hi there, is anyone else having issues where the airpods no longer transmits audio. For example, I'm listening to a podcast & the audio frequently just drops, the podcast is still playing just goes silent. The airpods still appear connect and the app needs to be restarted to get audio again. Really annoying, it might be more that just the airpods however that's where I notice it. This never happened prior to the most recent update to 11.3, never happened before.

I am having the same issues as everyone else. AirPod are about 2 weeks old. I’m running 11.4.1 on an iPhone 7+. What is frustrating is the lack of acknowledgement from Apple that I could find that this is an issue they will be addressing.

Anyone able to find news or an Apple support thread about this with a response from Apple?

I've been dealing with this very frustrating issue for awhile. Did a restore from itunes and basically everything support could think of with no luck. I recently discovered the least annoying (but still extremely annoying) way to continue the music is to double tap the airpod to bring up siri and then double tap again to cancel the siri request. I can't wait for iOS 12 to fix this. It's hard to really get into the music when I know it's gonna drop out at any second.

I have this feeling too. Many times it seems to happen after I touch my iPhone and then put it back down on the desk locking the screen. After a few seconds audio stops but the music is still playing and I realized I can still control playback using double taps on the earbuds. But it could also happen just like right now when I was having a walk, I touched my phone (like change the album to play) then lock screen and put in pocket. A few seconds later audio goes silent.

I managed to narrow It down two possibilities.

1) The AirPods are on some sort of always listening function so that it can hear a user say “Hey Siri” followed by the command. This kicks on more frequently when a EMS siren is on. “Hey Siri” never works so it can’t be that. I live in NYC so lots of Interfearing sounds seem to cause this to happen. Unless it’s just a conincidence of 2 and the environment sound stop hey airy from functioning correctly.

2) the data on the carrier network is so **** slow in the particular area you are that the audio streaming into your device is not buffering fast enough. I pay for unlimited data and it shouldn’t be capped as I don’t over use that much data. But still I greatly suspect this since carriers have the tech to make the data connection speed variable.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, and I'm late to the discussion, but here goes.

I was able to fix this issue by:

1) Un-pairing my AirPods from my Apple iCloud Account

2) Resetting my AirPods

3) Shutting off my Mac, my MacBook, and my iPhone (all of my iCloud devices)

4) Restarting my devices and repairing them.

Side note: I've found that wireless speakers (Sonos, etc.) caused issues with my AirPods, especially when they were playing music. I haven't been able to recreate this since iOS 13, however.
