problems in installing the new version of Sierra

I have a Mac Book Pro 13 inch model 2017 - Thunderbolt3 . I am trying without success to download and install the update OS .Every time the computer is frozen and I am forced to reinstall the old version of Sierra. How is possible the problem has not been fixed yet avoiding to the end users? How can I install the updates considering I am not an expert?
