27" and larger display recommendations?

Hi, I'm running 2 x Apple 27" Cinema displays, being driven by an ATI Radeon HD 5770 card. The MacPro is a Mid-2010. Both displays are 2560x1440 (not Thunderbolt). This is a system solely used for business and graphics, no "gaming" whatsoever. The business apps I run are typical: MS Office, Adobe CS6, etc.

While the displays are nice, they do generate a tremendous amount of heat, and this is disturbing in the summertime; my office becomes unbearable, even with the A/C on and fans blowing everywhere.

I just ordered a slightly more modern display adapter, a Radeon HD 7970.

I'm wondering if anyone has any monitor or display recommendations besides the existing Apple Cinemas I already have? I could either go with two similar (2560 x 1440, 27") sizes that perhaps use less power/generate less heat, or some kind of ultrawide, or even a single larger format (32" +) but I am baffled by the choices. From some comments I've read, I should probably avoid the curved monitors as they present some challenges in page layout when you need to visualize straight lines. I do need a lot of real estate (more than a single 27") since I'm usually keeping spreadsheets open on one monitor and graphics on another.

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), MacPro 5,1 16GB RAM; 256 SSD; 2 x 1TB HD
