iPhone X(11.6) does not automatically reconnect with verizon network extender

Wen I leave the house, the iPhone X loses connection with extneder as expected. WHen I return, I would expect it to automatically reconnect. It does not.

If I switch to AirplaneMode, then back, it connects in 4-ish seconds.

Is there a setting somewhere to have it poll for in-range with extender and automatically re-connect?

Sorry, but this was not helpful.

> you could try to "forget your network"

It is not a wifi issue, the iPhone and Network Extender(NE) connect directly via cell protocol, as if the NE is a cell tower. By going into/out of Airplane Mode, it forces iPhone to rescan, looking for best signal cell "tower"

> you could contact Verizon Tech Support
Already did, per Verizon tech support: Since the NE emulates a cell tower, it has the server role and it waits for cell phones to contact it. It is the obligation of the cell phone to find the best signal cell "tower".

Bottom line is that the cell phone should routinely be looking for a tower with a better signal.

Is there a cellular setting to effect this behavour?

As I asked previously... why? For a fair number of years I had an AT&T Microcell to fix issues with lousy cell reception in various parts of my house. It was "ok", but was never great. Not sure what kind of network extender you have, but none of them have a reputation for flawless operation.

With the advent of WiFi calling, virtually all such devices have been rendered obsolete. Why fight it?
