All photos saved on iPhone reverted back to original (filters removed) after iOS 11.3 update. Anyone knows how to fix?

Vivid was the default filter I use for camera. I have like 2000+ photos and all were reverted back to Original, even photo orientations were reset. This happened after I updated my iOS to 11.3. Anyone knows how to fix this without going through each photo and edit it one by one? TIA.

I had the same issue. Apple support told me to do a full backup, sign out from iCloud and sign in again. It DID solve the problem. That said, I found that solution realy annoyingly since I had to re-insert my cards on apple pay, lost all my previous logged transactions on apple pay and synchronize all my data which took ages! And no garantie this won’t happen again...

Will Apple actually address this? Cause I didn’t find anything on the internet except several people having the same issue. The crappy thing is it keeps doing it every day even if I edit my pictures one by one again - this is such a poor job! Have you found any working solution by yourself? Cause I find only that iCloud sharing saves the edited versions, but who cares if all my library keeps reverting back. Not happy at all 😒

Hi,

Sorry for deayed answer. I noticed it’s not only about edits, but rather about the whole iCloud syncing issues - it doesn’t sync properly, and re-sync the originals without edits all the time. Not creating a proper full back-up as I compare the iCloud backup version created by iPhone with the one created by my old iPad and the iPad’s one is immaculate whereas iPhone screws it up all the time - not only for pictures, but for notes and safari bookmarks too. Really frustrating as I pay additionally for not working iCloud 😒

What a nightmare! I took a ton of wedding photos and edit them for my son and we were going to make an album with all of the edits reverted to originals. This was May 7, 2018. On Saturday, May 12, 2018 I wound up speaking to three different Apple support employees. They determined it was a software problem and I needed to update from 11 to 11.3. I did. I thought the fix was working for a while but then the pictures begin reverting again. On June 7 I again contacted Apple Support who told me it was because my cloud was full and we needed to turn off iCloud if I didn’t want to buy more space. I did not. We shut my car down on both my phone and iPad. That didn’t work. On Friday, July 6 I once again contacted Apple support who suggested I needed to update AGAIN to 11.4. I added the May wedding photos once again to try and make an album and yes you guessed it, they are inverted over a period of 24 hours! Three calls to Apple Support over TWO months and nothing. I have literally hours invested in these edits. All gone.

I have contacted Apple support 4 times and spoke with at least 5 or 6 different representatives. We have gone through three different proposed fixes and none of them work. It is a nightmare.

Bottom line is they don’t know how the **** to fix it. I have the support staff Jeff’s phone number and extension it is 877-388-0878 EXT 1109004. maybe if we all call him he will get to the bottom of this. Everyone asked like I’m the only one having this problem.

Oops... sorry, I accidentally clicked on “Solved”. I haven’t found a solution yet... so frustrating. ♀So I’m hoping Apple will fix this soon. What I do for now, is use external apps to edit photos and then save them again. ONE. AT. A. TIME. but at least I’m sure the photos would no longer revert back to original format. 😬😫😅

I am so, so, so upset. I had a family wedding. It was beautiful. I took tons of pictures and edited them. I spent close to 8 hours editing. The next morning when I tried to post the pictures to Facebook all of the edits were gone. I got to checking back at pictures of my grandkids track meets and those edits are all gone as well. All edits after 4/21 gone. I upgraded from IPhone 6 to IPhone 7 to get more storage for my edited pictures. Now this. Can we undo the update? Has anyone heard what the idiots at Apple are going to do to fix this major screw up?! HELP!!

Hey everybody, I am having the same problems. I am disabled and it takes me a long time to edit my photos just the way I want. I spent countless hours editing hundreds of pictures and I paid to get more data storage because I had too many photos so that solved the storage problem. I have over 7,000 photos and I haven’t checked them all but I know I had pictures edited last July that returned too original. Some of the editing takes me 15-20 minutes just for one shot because I like to be creative and do some unusual stuff. Now I’ve edited the same fifty or so photos everyday because I have some memory issues and get going on one then end up doing a mess of shots then I hope they will be there the next day. Yesterday I thought I had it figured out? I thought, maybe when I put my phone on airplane mode so it charges faster that I am losing my iCloud connection and that’s causing it. So I turned my phone on this morning and Poof! They were all back to the original versions again! I am very frustrated and angry because it causes my pain to increase just too hold my phone and I really feel it the next day! My entire body is in nonstop pain from head to toes plus I have some mental health issues, cognitive problems to go along with the countless physical conditions that keep me in my adjustable bed anywhere from 60-99% of my days, 99%? A guy has too use the bathroom, wash up, brush the teeth brush the tangled out of my long hair and eat. I can do some things in the yard and my woods knowing it’ll increase my time to, dang, I can’t think of the word, get back to my normal pain level, but it’s worth it most of the time. I am truly thankful to God for everything I have and the countless blessings he brings me everyday of ncluding every last health issue. I also don’t like the newest filters they put in to replace the last version which weren’t great but so much better than the crappy ones now. I lost my last phone somewhere on our properties I think it slid out of my pocket down and off of my tractor while I was filling a large area I dug up last fall? Anyway my beautiful bride and the second greatest gift God gave me after Jesus, she bought me the same phone our son( the third greatest gift) has, the 7 plus. Another thing I hate about this phone is that it doesn’t register all of my the keys I hit causing me too back up and enter them. Some of the new features on the camera are cool but I liked my 6 plus better overall. If any of you amazing hard working people who pay a lot of money for these troublesome iPhones and the service find out how too fix problem can you please let me know? Thank you for your time and Gods Peace! Schiedy
