On your iPhone X: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

Absolutely unacceptable! I am having the same FaceTime issue since June 2nd. They even changed my IPhone X to a new IPhone X, but the issue is still persistent. Went and got a new SIM card from AT&T thinking that’s what’s causing it, but no change. I erased my phone numerous time and set it up as new, got the new IOS 11.4.1, but no luck. Hoping for a permanent solution to the software problem from Apple soon.

WOW, isn't that absurd. On an other footnote. Somehow Facetime got also stuck on an iMac and Apple can only reset this with their IT consultant management team. WOW makes one wonder how the **** just an social media conect phone requires suddenly APPLE's own management IT department to reset?? What are they doing with your contacts and content! Now iPhone X Facetime get's stuck and you need to shut down the entire phone, yeah righ!

Same issue here... Tried everything, restore my phone, get replaced unite... So far, rebooting is the only way works and I found it supper frustrated. I suspect that it's the iPhone X problem only because my iPhone 6 plus is still good though. I agree for most of people, for a almost $1300 phone, this is definitely unacceptable!!! Not for Apple, not even for any phone! I guess that maybe the signal that Apple start to fall??? (I'm owning almost every product of Apple, and as a loyal customer, I don't deserve this!!) 😠

I’ve had the same problems plus strange characters appearing in my text typing at random times. It’s crazy & very annoying. Get a grip Apple! I’ve read that they were issuing a fix & that was back in April 2018 so far it’s obviously not fixed as of today 21/08/2018. Very unhappy iPhone user. I had another problem as well where I couldn hear People when they called but they couldn’t hear me. I looked the answer up on line & fixed that as fortunately others had left information. What’s going to happen with this phone next!??? You’d think for the price they charge that they would give you a piece of kit that worked! I will be thinking about moving to Samsung for my next phone at this rate. It’s the first time I’ve had issues but they aren’t minor & with the amount of people experiencI gotta them there is obviously a big problem with this model. 😡😡😡

Yeah thanks for the response. Still feel like Apple is kicking the can down the road. I’m a huge Apple fan but expect more from them, especially after dropping $1400 on their top phone. Obviously I’ll wait for the update and it’s not as though my phone is completely debilitated, it’s just I feel I’m seeing more issues like this and a lacking sense of urgency in the post Jobs era.

Unfortunately I am having this same problem. I’m unable to select settings so I can’t manually shut down. Force restart not working. Can’t choose / open apps at all but I can swipe between screens, delete apps, edit widgets, receive notifications (text) but can’t respond. I’ve even enabled airplane mode but the call won’t end.

Help! What should I do? I am traveling and can’t plug it into a computer, the only thing I can think of is wait until it runs out of batteries but I have to fly tomorrow so need to get it back and working!

This was the only thing that worked for me. I tried quitting all the apps that were running by swiping them up. I tried going into Settings, but it wouldn't launch. In the past I've held down the power button along with the up volume to restart and that's worked. Not this time.

I was resigned to having to let the phone run down the battery, but your solution worked.
