i was facetime audio calling a contact but my phone got stuck on call ending. I am on ios 11.3 on my iphone x. It doesnt allow me to shutdown or restart

Same issue just happened with my son’s Xr. Phone locked up during a FaceTime call and continued to ring. No buttons or apps would work or respond....just constant FaceTime ringing (very annoying). We used the the quick up vol button/down volume then right button trick to power it down as this thread suggested as our solution

My iPhone 10 is frozen after FaceTime. I can't switch off using power button or holding power & volume and I've tried deleting the FaceTime app? Apple, Please help???
I pressed the volume up button once, then volume down button once and then the power button and i managed to turn it off..

Same problem has happened with my iphoneX running version 12.0.1. I cannot access the settings, and resetting as explained above does not work.
This is happening to my phone now and it’s not letting me go into settings for shut down. I can’t hard shut down with the power button either. Please help.
It won’t let me shut down via settings or hard reboot. Is there another option?
It doesn’t allow you to open any apps at all so that’s not an option
