facetime activation error on macbook air

I am typing in my login info correctly and the two-factor code at the end of my password to login to my facetime but everytime it says activation error please try again. I've tried to login for months and it continues to do this, I think it may be because my password has numbers at the end so it may effect the activation code but does anyone have any advice or know how to solve this?

Hello, delajna!

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I see from your post that you're having an issue activating FaceTime on your MacBook Air, and that you use two-factor authentication with your Apple ID. I am happy to help.

What version of macOS do you have on your MacBook Air? You would find that information by going to the Apple menu, to "About This Mac". As it mentions in this section of Two-factor authentication for Apple ID , you only need to append the code to the end of the password if you're using an older version of macOS:

What if I use two-factor authentication on a device running older software?

If you use two-factor authentication with devices running older OS versions, you might be asked to add your six-digit verification code to the end of your password when signing in. Get your verification code from a trusted device running iOS 9 and later or OS X El Capitan and later, or have it sent to your trusted phone number. Then type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field.

If your MacBook has a newer version of macOS, then you would not need to append the code to the end of your Apple ID password.

Please let us know how it goes, and what version you have if necessary.

Have a great day!
