Two Factor Authorization

Two Factor Auth is turned on and my device (MacPro 13) is recognized on my Apple ID page however I am asked to enter a verification code everytime I login into my Apple ID account as though it's a new device. Weird thing is it gives me the code on my Mac which makes no sense, i.e., If it thinks it's a new device, it shouldn't give me the code on the same device, and if it does recognize my device, I shouldn't get a ver code, right?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.2)

Depends. Below are the conditions that will require a new verification code.

Not at all.

Codes are sent to devices you proved you have full control of. That's why they are called "trusted".

2FA does not protect device access, it prevents account access. Your strong local password prevents device access.
