Apple software update problems

My Apple Software Update seems to not work. It is constantly recommending that I update the same itunes software level daily. If I run itunes and check for an update from it it says it is up to date. However, apple software update constantly keeps saying an update is available. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and related components far more times than once for the same problem to keep happening. Everything seems to be working fine other than the minor annoyance. Here is some other background when this started happening.

I believe it was just before ios 11.1 came out all of a sudden I could not back up my devices to itunes so uninstalled and reinstalled and still no fix to that problem but that is when the bug i mentioned in the previous paragraph started happening and apple software update constantly said an update was available.

(I did find though that restoring to a previous build of windows 10, and i believe an earlier build of itunes, everything worked fine. However I believed an easir fix was available while keeping everthing up to date so reupdated everything and still had the same backup problem)

After updating my devices to ios 11.1 I could magically backup again just fine with nothing else being updated on the computer (I still don't know how that just started working again).

Apple software update still had it's problem although.

Obviously itunes and other apple products have been updated since then with bug fixes but still the same problem. I have checked files on my computer, like I said earlier uninstalled and reinstalled everything more than once, and have had someone try and help me on here to no avail. It really is a minor annoyance really but I can usually get this stuff figured out myself quick and easy yet this has been on the back of my mind for a while haha so if anyone has had this issue and figured it out or has some ideas I would appreciate it.

Any idea on a fix?
