Solution to "Bootcamp 6 trackpad driver"
Original thread: Bootcamp 6 trackpad driver
Context: In Bootcamp 6, after installing and then uninstalling Trackpad++, I was unable to turn off test signing mode without disabling the trackpad driver. It's been said that Apple didn't digitally sign the driver, but that's not true from my experience; instead, it was Trackpad++ that was screwing things up. Here's how I fixed the issue, making the trackpad usable again without test signing mode.
Solution:
- You'll probably need a mouse for this, just in case.
- Download the appropriate Bootcamp drivers using Bootcamp Assistant on your Mac. You can also try direct download, though I don't know where to get them. Put the drivers in your Bootcamp partition, you'll need it later.
- On Windows, disable test signing mode with bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF
- Launch Device Manager.
- In "Mice and other pointing devices", uninstall the Trackpad++ driver.
- In "Human Interface Devices", right click "Apple SPI Trackpad" and select "Update driver".
- Click "Browse my computer for driver software".
- Click "Let me pick from a list of avaliable drivers...".
- You should see a "Apple SPI Trackpad" driver, which is one of the drivers you downloaded in Step 2 (I think). If you select it, you should see "This driver is digitally signed." at the bottom.
- Click "Next" to install it.
- Restart.
Disclaimer: I have never tried these steps directly so I have no idea if they work or not. If they don't, I also tried running Setup.exe inside the Bootcamp drivers and repairing them, and I also restarted lots of times.
Hope this helps!
