Nothing happens after clicking Done on "Select the apps you want to use with this account" when adding Internet Account

I have my work email, calendar and contacts on my home macbook. Yesterday, I got an error message when trying to send email that there was no outgoing mail server. For some reason I couldn't add it back in so decided to remove the account and start over. Since then I've not been able to add it back in.


My work uses Google apps and there's never been a problem adding this in as an Internet Account previously.


  • Two factor authentication is enabled
  • Email and password are working fine
  • When I click done when it asks me to select the apps to use, the loading icon flashes for a second then disappears and nothing happens.
  • Looking at others who have had this problem, I've tried the following and nothing has worked:
    • Restarting computer
    • Deleting stored passwords from Keychain Access
    • Trying to add from Internet Accounts and from Mail Accounts sections
    • Deleting my iCloud account with the same work email address
    • Reinstalling mac OS


I'm getting really frustrated now. If anyone can help, please let me know.

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having an issue with adding your work Google account to your Mac and I am happy to help out! Take a look at this article with steps to follow to Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac. This will perform checks and stop certain software from starting up automatically. Also, check out this article with step for How to test an issue in another user account on your Macto create a new user and test the issue in the new account to see if the issue is user specific or system wide. Just be sure you try to add the account to the test user.
Note that depending on how this troubleshooting goes, you may need to reach out to your company's IT department to be sure that there are no limitations on their end, and that your configuration is correct.
