Sync Outlook 2016 contact/ calendar with iPhone

Has Apple removed the ability to sync using iTunes (via USB) for Outlook 2016?

The page How to sync contacts with outlook 2016 using itunesisn't very clear.

The article (extracted below) had a link to a KB article, but it's broken:

Please advise. Many thanks!

Mike.

Check your system requirements

To sync with iTunes, make sure that:

You're using Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010, or 2013. [i.e. implies that sync discontinued for Outlook 2016]

I got USB sync to Outlook 2016 to work eventually.

I _think_ the trick was to change the default Outlook PST data file. (Thanks to the other Communities members who posted about it.)

File - Account Settings - Account Settings [again] - Data Files. Make sure "Outlook" is the default file.

I also turned off the iCloud settings on my phone and on the iCloud software I'd downloaded to my Windows PC.

BIG sigh of relief.
