FIX(APRIL 2018) Could not create a preboot volume for APFS install
I too had this issue. But I found a fix. Follow these steps:
- Once you hear the chime sound after turning on the Mac, press and hold CMD and R together till you see a Mac logo or a spinning globe.
- You will enter into recovery Mode. Now click disc utility.
- In disc utility, find for your internal hard drive. Click on 'Show all devices/drives'.
- Above Macintosh HD , you will see an option:Toshiba/ Samsung drive 128/256GB. This is the main drive.
- Click on the drive. Then click erase.
- Select Mac OS Extended (journaled) as the format.
- After erasing the drive, close disc utility.
- Click Re-Install MacOS.
- Now the setup should get completed without issues.
- If you do encounter an issue, then create a bootable USB of MacOS(plenty of tutorials on YouTube) and then repeat the steps above.
