Is it possible to make a recording at a slow tempo and then increase the tempo while retaining the pitch?

Yes you can.
Once you recorded your Audio Region on a Track, open the Audio Editor (Key Command "E") and click on the Flex Button to Enable Flex. Select the Audio Region and enable the checkbox "Follow Tempo and Pitch".
Now you can change the Project Tempo and the Audio File will play faster or slower without changing the pitch.
If you want to change the pitch you can use the Transpose Slider above the checkbox.
Hope that helps

The Audio Editor has two tabs in the upper left corner of the Local Inspector.
Track: These are the setting for the Track, including Enabled Flex
Region: These are the setting for the selected Region(s), including Follow Tempo and Pitch
Thanks so much! I'll give this a try. Hopefully it will all work out. If not, you may get another question from me.
But thanks!

Well . . . I'm sure this has mainly to do with my inadequacies, but I am not seeing a "follow tempo & pitch" check box after I select audio editor and enable flex. What am I doing wrong?
