After restoring via iTunes, The sound distortion problem came back after upon accepting a new apple “software update.” I guess we would need to stop accepting updates for this to work. I plan to do restores via iTunes periodically to get the latest software updates that way instead of getting software updates through my phone.

marius234,
See if this helps:
If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker
Good luck.
If this is the dreaded 11.3 music "bug" I'm afraid it's greater than a speaker problem. It happens over USB using CarPlay also. It does for me, anyway. FULL restore did not fix.
I also get this but it is even when I'm speaking with someone on the phone!
I have the exact same problem, and it is driving me insane. I am shocked Apple is not addressing this, or have I missed something?
Oh yeah: I updated to 11.4.1 yesterday and have been hearing these distotions ever since... And I think I skipped 11.3 altogether, so I have only experienced this bug with 11.4.1
Following. Same problem.
How do we elevate this discussion at Apple?
Me too! Very embarrassing and it happens on almost every call. Either a slo motion voice or a high pitched chipmunk voice. I thought it was my headset but it’s not.
What can we do to get Apple to respond? Surely there must be some way!!
This is not helpful at all. This is clearly not an issue related to the speaker; it is a software issue, and Apple won’t admit it or provide a fix. Very disappointing.
I restored my phone on 10-Aug. Today is the 5th of Sept. Everything works fine. Cheers, Shree
I get random distorted audio after update to iOS 11.3
