My iPad air is bent, :/ and not charging correctly.

I just recently noticed my iPad has a bend/curvature at the bottom of it. I have absolutely no idea how this happened or why, I've done some searches online regarding this problem and found that quite a few people have this problem, not just with the bend, but with the bend in the exact same spot. Some people have suggested it's due to the battery overheating and than inflating, this would make sense since my iPad is not charging correctly, it's taking forever and the charger adapter ends up getting really, really hot.

the town i live in doesn't have an apple store so i'll have to wait until i go to Sydney. Is this an expensive problem to fix?

It might be, but this may be a case of the chicken or the egg.

The battery could be faulty and maybe has expanded some, causing the bend.

This is something you do not want to play with.

If both your iPad and power block are getting hot all the time, the battery is not charging properly AND there is a bend in your iPad Air, IF this IS a battery issue, Li-ion batteries can expand/explode and catch fire.

Bring the iPad into your “local” Apple Store and have Apple look and diagnose your iPad Air.

Probably, expect to pay for a replacement iPad.

If the replacement iPad is close to the price of a the new 2018 iPad 6th generation, you might want to consider purchasing one of those as the original, 1st gen iPad Air is approaching the 5 year old mark.

Good Luck to You!
