Background color of folders

Hi ,

I want to change the background color of my folders.

On the internet , I find more than a 1000 times , "cmd+j" and then change background color from "white" to "color".

But I can't change anything at all , it is all greyed out and stays constant on "white".

I use High Sierra (latest version).

If the buttons are greyed out it is probably to do with how you ave Arrange By and Sort By set. If you have Arrange By set to anything but None or Name you will not get the chance to change the background colour. Set Arrange By to None or Name, and Sort By to your preferred choice, and you should now be able to change the background colour.
