mdwrite wants to use the "metadata" keychain.

A couple of days ago, my Mac started asking:

mdwrite wants to use the "metadata" keychain.

Please enter the keychain password.

Password: [ ]

Over and over and over again. I don't know what the password is. If I hit Cancel a bunch of times the dialog will go away... for a bit.

I found posts from 2011(!) with no resolution to this same problem which is a little alarming. I decided to post again to see if anyone has any more insight.

Open keychain access with the help of spotlight ( just type Keychain Access .app in the spotlight ) , then open keychain access preferences and click on reset my default keychain , take cursor on top menu bar and log out , enter with admin password .

This method will deactivate the old login keychain and a new keychain will be created again in user library - keychain folder .

I had seen that post before, but there was no "metadata keychain" (as posted by Peter) nor anything similar in my "login" Keychain.

My machine crashed (coincidence or related? who knows). After reboot an item called "MetadataKeychain" showed up in my "login" keychain. It shows a Date Modified that matches the time of the reboot.

So far so good, no more dialogs. Looks like it went away.
