Password-protected file opens without p/w

I have a p/w protected Pages file that has behaved for years, but today it opens without a p/w.

I have quit and relaunched Pages, but that does not fix it.

I'm not sure if this is an iWork or Finder issue, but it seems a bit fundamental!

Cheers,

Colin

When you password protect, or change the password on a password protected Pages document, you can optionally check the dialog box that asks Keychain to remember the password. On subsequent open attempts of this document, in the same user account, Pages will automatically retrieve that key chain password, unlock, and open that password protected Pages document. If you are synchronizing your keychain database via iCloud with another Mac, and using the same user id there, then Pages will again, perform this unlock automation for you.

All other user accounts on the same, or different Mac, or your same user account on a different Mac, where the keychain is not synced via iCloud — will require a password to unlock this Pages document.

If you can open that password protected Pages document in Pages 7.0 (10.12 or later), then you can use the File menu : Change Password…, enter the password, and uncheck the Remember this password in my keychain item. If you open that document in Pages v5.6.2 (El Capitan), that italicized selection is unselected, and you would have to remove, and reset the password again. Manually save the document after the changes.

There is no keyboard shortcut to set/unset the italicized checkbox in the Set/Change password panel.

Your iPad is a different device, on a different operating system. As I mentioned earlier, unless you are syncing the keychain via iCloud between your Mac and iOS devices with the same Apple ID, then the iPad is going to prompt you for that Pages document password.
