My News widget is suddenly gone. How do I get it back?

All of a sudden my News widget is gone. I can’t find it anywhere, I even looked in the Apple store.... Some of my friends still have News, I don’t understand why mine is gone

If your news app is downloaded on your phone, then you will be able to get the widget back by going to the widget page on your phone and scrolling all the way to the bottom where there will be a small circle saying edit. press this and it may ask for your fingerprint to unlock or it will take you straight to the widget editing menu. You will see different widgets with a red circle and a minus sign. These are widgets already on your widget page. Below those are widgets with a green circle and a plus sign. These are widgets that are able to be added to your widget page. Your news widget should be with those additional widgets. Just press the circle and it will be added to your widget page. You can also change the location of the news widget by holding down on the 3 horizontal lines on the right of the added widget. You can move it above or below the other widgets added and will appear in this order on your widgets page.

If your news app is not on your home screen with your other installed apps. Just go to the app store and reinstall it. Then just complete the above instructions and you should be all set.

Hope this helps.

Hi nienketg! Are you sure you had the official Apple News app? To the best of my knowledge Apple News has never been available in the Netherlands!? Click this link to Apple´s site about availability and you'll see that Apple News is only available in the USA, Australia and the UK!

FWIW I bought my iPhone X here in Germany and can't get Apple News either! Regards, Ian.

Thank you very much for your answer. The problem is that I can’t find the app in the Appstore . If I type in ‘News’ I can’t find the right one. The app News from Apple, with the red logo with an N in it, is just not there. And I don’t understand why, because if I type in News in search, I get a whole explanation what it is and how to use it. But not how to reinstall it when it has disapeared.... Do you have any idea?

I’ve already tried typing exactly that name (and otters close to that), but it is just not in the list. Maybe it’s because of the last update, or maybe Apple doesn’t support Apple News in the Netherlands anymore.... I’ll try an Applestore tomorrow, after that I don’t know what else to do. Thank you very much for thinking with me (I don’t know if that’s the right expression in English), but thank you!

Hi Ian, thank you for replying. The News app I had was already on my phone when I got it. I asked around with some of my friends who have IPhones, they all had the same News app already on their phones when they got theirs. The logo is exactly the same as the logo from Apple News, I checked it on the Apple site. This photo I took today from the IPhone of a friend of mine who still has the app. Mine was exactly the same and I’ve had it on my phone since 2015 (when I bought my IPhone, it was new). I also discovered a few minutes ago, that the app is still up and running on my IPad....User uploaded file
