Google Apple class action lawsuits there are at least 48 claiming Apple iOS update intentionally screwed up millions of iPhones and iPads. My friend went to Apple store they immediately gave him new iPhone battery. I go with ipad this weekend but they actually take your iPad away from you and mail you a different refurbished iPad a week later. You must upload all to iCloud or iTunes or you lose alldata.

I've been having this same problem and it seems a lot of other folks are having it as well. On another thread, someone suggested using a hair dryer to warm up the iPad, which suggests the weird battery behavior is temperature related. I have concluded that my iPad issue is temperature related.

When I am home all day or don't take my iPad outside with me, the battery is fine, and it doesn't shut down unexpectedly and I have good battery life all day. When I go out, like to school or a meeting, and it's cold out, I have exactly the problem described: it shuts down and shows the red-lined battery. Tonight it happened, and when I got home I plugged in the iPad to charge, it showed the red-lined battery, and when I checked it 30 minutes later, the battery level showed 93%.

I'm thinking the temperature issue is not affecting the battery itself, but affecting some function that measures or detects the iPad the battery level. It is hard to describe what I mean. I'm going to try a little experiment: right now my iPad battery is at 100%. I'm going to put it in the fridge for a few minutes and see what happens.

After 13 minutes in the fridge the iPad shut down and the battery is red lined. Rebooted, battery showed 25%, then shut down. I just plugged it in to charge. Let's see how long it takes to get to 100% (probably as long as it takes to warm back up to room temp.)

It's been 36 minutes since I started charging and the battery is up to 56%.

Anyway, I think the problem is a temperature issue, but I don't know how to fix it.
