Podcasts not Updating

I was listening to a podcast today and found it was from 2016! (it's 2018) This happens every time I try to utilize the podcast feature on iPad, iPhone or my MacBook Pro. My operating systems on all are up to date. Why won't these programs update podcasts? I do try to manually update the casts. I do have a lot of subscriptions-30 or so, that I listen to, but the program does not seem to update after some use....a week or so of use. I have used Stitcher mostly, works perfectly, then I come back to iTunes podcast only to find it does not update...gets stuck for a time. Any help is appreciated.

It appears that there are two different Podcast feeds for Mark Levin. These screenshots are from iTunes on my desktop, but I found the same results in the Podcasts for iOS app:

I assume that the Podcast Feed URL (the online address where the podcast episodes are stored) has been replaced at some time in the past with a different feed. The "official" Podcast appears to be the old feed, with the latest one being from 2016.

The "other" feed has episodes from 2018 - April in fact:

The original feed:

and the newer feed:

In the iTunes Store, there is a link to the provider's website and in each of the two we see here the link takes you to Mark Levin's own website.

So make sure that you are using the not official Podcast Feed rather than the official one.

Hi and thanks for the response. I am not ruling out user error...but I really don't think that is the case here. The episode was a Mark Levin program, and he has a very professional staff that keeps the podcasts up to date. If I use the "feed" hyperlink it shows old shows. A day later, all is updated. I was wondering if the program needed to be launched to update? If so it took all day to update. A possible explanation is it has to be launched and my internet was slow??? Problem with that is this happens many times, not just once. One day all is up to date, the next I'm in 2016. Today, it's all up to date. My internet download speed yesterday was 45 down, 11 up, so I don't think it is a slow net. Thanks again for any help and for the response.

Updating of Podcasts is the responsibility of the podcast's producers, not Apple or iTunes. While I accept that there could be a problem with the Podcast Feed, even that is the responsibility of the programme's producers (providing they know about the issue).

It's not unusual for an old Podcast series to still be available, even though the producers are no longer adding new episodes.

I've recently discovered a Podcast that hasn't had a new episode since 31st October 2016. I've listened to one episode and enjoyed it, downloaded a couple more and I'm subscribed to it in the hope that it may one day see additional episodes.

Which programme are you referring to? Perhaps I could test it and see what I find.
