Using MainStage for Live guitar plugins?

I'm a Logic user but kinda new to MainStage.I would like to use MainStag for live performance to work with guitar plugins like amplitube,Helix,Guitar rig etc. Right now I'm not using an external pedal but I would like to set up about 10 of my favorite patches & switch between these patches using key commands on my mac keyboard. I really don't have a clue on how to make MainStage jump from patch to patch on my guitar plugin.can someone give me a basic idea? Is there any tutorial on main stage & live guitar?

Create a new Patch in the patch list and change insert the plug-in you want and the setting you are after.

Replicate this move for all your different sounds.

Now you should be able to use the arrow keys to change the patch.

I highly recommend that you assign a couple of pedals so that you don't have to take your hands off the guitar when performing.

Suppose I want 10 different sounds from the same plugin will I have to insert the same plugin 10 times? Won't ta take up CPU? I'm wondering how to have just 1 instance of the plugin but navigate to different sounds on its drop down .

Is there also a way to automate patch changes within a song?

For example: change to patch A for the chorus, and then back to patch b for the verse, by the measure number.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been trying to avoid using a foot pedal. But then again, I’ve been thinking about getting the blueboard for a while.

People just have a bunch of slightly different mainstage patches.

So, They might have patches named with

*songname* - Intro

*songname* V1

*songname* Chorus

etc.

You can duplicate a patch by pressing cmd+D while it is selected.

Also, most people will use a midi controller of some sort to change patches. The one I've used is the iRig Blueboard which is a foot controller capable of MIDI over Bluetooth.

Or you could set up the TouchOSC app which is a customisable MIDI controller app you can use on iphone, ipad, or android.
