Final Cut Pro X 10.4.1 randomly deleting clips.

I noticed this issue after updating to FCPX 10.4.1

I am editing a multicam clip and periodically I'll look back at my work and segments of clips are randomly being deleted. All that remains is a few crossfades. This has happened two times now. Is there anything I can try to resolve this issue? I've never seen a glitch this bad in FCPX... I love this program.

I am editing on a new iMac Pro with High Sierra 10.13.4. I've done about 10 projects so far on it and have not had this issue. The video files I am referencing are in a folder in my documents.

Thanks!

iMac Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4)

I had the same problem. Another user of this forum gave me the advice (in another thread) to only use command + clicking to select multiple clips. He received this advice from the apple support. They told him not to use shift select or dragging to select multiple clips as that seems to cause the arbitrary selection of more clips (sometimes not all the time). It seems to be a reliable workaround. At least in my last editing session I had no more suprisingly deleted clips. An the user I got this tip from told me the same. So I hope this can help you to avoid more nightmares.

Nevertheless I really hope that Apple fixes this soon.

The latest version of Command Post, beta 28, provides a solution for the clip selection bug. The plugin has a clever solution. It monitors when you are selecting clips and, if it detects other clips becoming selected, it deselect them. I have only been using it a short while, but it is very fast - I haven’t noticed any slowdown during the selection process. Check it out at commandpost.io. The app is funded by donations, so if you find it useful, drop a donation on them to keep it going.

This is a major bug when dragging to select clips. It's occasionally selecting additional clips elsewhere in the project other than what you highlighted. Then anything you do will also happen to those other clips too -- like deleting, for example. This was driving me crazy and then after complaining on Twitter, someone shared this great video showing off the problem:

I have this problem too. Editing a feature film, randomly clips and scenes disappear in a completely different section of my two hour timeline, than the section I was working on - deleting or moving clips. I must triple check everything before viewings with BBC and BFI and other coproducers. Complete nightmare.

Apple! Solve this quickly! I stood by FCP all along the way, did already 10 feature films with FCP X, managed to work around all the little bugs and hick ups, but this bug is too BASIC. I need to trust that as long as I didn't touch any scene anywhere in the timeline, it will still be there. If I lose that basic trust, you will lose me.

I use no plug ins in any clip.

It's happening to me too. Simple single-cam project, no plugins used. I normally place the playhead somewhere, press shift+cmd+b to cut, then click+drag to select a chunk and press "delete" to delete. After I spent a few hours editing my project, I noticed random clips were missing through the timeline 😟.

Please fix this ASAP Apple!

Anyone know if there's a way to downgrade to 10.4.0?
