2011 MacbookPro running Yosemite The mail icon disappeared from the dock. How can I recover it?
Open the Applications folder. Locate the Mail application. Select it and then drag it onto the Dock.

I looked in the Applications folder twice, and I must have been blind, because I did not see it there.
