ReadMe.txt file wont delete

I recently downloaded a Sims 4 mod onto a macBook Air, and it also downloaded a readme.txt file. I went to go delete it to save space, but it didn't go to the trash (or move anywhere on my desktop.) The error message when I try to delete it is "The item “ReadMe.txt” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted." Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.
